Calling themselves your “Caffeine Emergency Response Team,” Ocosta residents Dan and Mary Smith are the owners/operators of Mocha Medic 1, a converted former ambulance that is now a mobile espresso stand.

Since early April, Mary, who operates their new business while Dan works at Ocean Gold, LLC., has been parked at the former Minit Market of North Cove site on the corner of SR105 and Warrenton Cannery Road, serving up a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages.

Mocha Medic 1 is open Wednesday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Featuring Batdorf & Bronson coffee and Big Train products, Mocha Medic 1 offers espressos, mochas, smoothies, Chai teas, lattes, hot chocolate, steamers, Red Bull smoothies, Americanos and Italian Sodas, along with blended drinks and a variety of brand name soft drinks.

Flavor-full

There are lots of flavor shots to choose from at Mobile Medic 1, including almond, caramel, French vanilla, mint, peppermint, vanilla bean, blue raspberry, hazelnut, raspberry, butter rum, crème de menthe, marshmallow, peach, strawberry, white chocolate, coconut, orange and watermelon.

Sticking to sugar free? Try French vanilla, hazelnut or chocolate.

Permanent site

The couple leases the property from its new owner, who planned to open a medical marijuana co-op there before running into Pacific County zoning restrictions that prevented him from doing so.

Of course, word got around the community of the possibility of a co-op coming to the site, and Mary says that as a result, she’s still turning people away who don’t know that their coffee stand is just that— a coffee stand and no more.

Local history

Mary was born and raised in North Cove and after several years of living elsewhere, she returned to the South Beach area in 2001. She worked at Westport Shipyard until 2013, when she and Dan started work on putting the espresso coach together. She ventured out and started doing special events last summer.

In addition to their permanent location in North Cove, the Smiths will also continue to participate in festivals, events, fairs, car shows and at private parties all over Grays Harbor and North Pacific County. Call 360- 589-2392 if your club, organization or festival committee is interested in including Mocha Medic 1 at your event.
