Westport Mayor, Michael Bruce, announced on May 3 that he will run for an unprecedented fourth term. Currently, the only other declared candidate for the position is first-term City Councilman Rob Bearden.
In announcing his candidacy, Bruce said, in part, “While serving as the mayor of Westport, I have worked with the city council and staff to progressively move Westport forward and have hired quality employees.
“Many positive, progressive things have been completed, including but not limited to the Senior Center remodel, a new library, a new GAR concession stand and restrooms, purchasing and remodeling a building for new City Hall, retrofitting the former city hall for the Westport Police Station, reconstruction of Westhaven Drive and Nyhus Street, retrofitting the wastewater treatment plant, expanding fresh water availability and returning the Police Department back to full staff.”
The August 4 Primary Election Candidate Filing Period runs from May 11-15.
