Community picnic thanks

Thank you to a wonderful community that worked together to provide a great picnic for community members and also provide food for our school children. More than fifty individuals, organizations and businesses donated food, prizes and items for the event. There are too many to list here individually, but rest assured, everyone of you are appreciated more than you know.

We served 240 hotdogs and very few came back for seconds.

The collection of food for the school was very successful. In addition to thirty backpacks and a large amount of food, we were able to donate $295 in cash to the Ocosta School District Brunch Bunch program that sends easy=to-prepare food home with children who might otherwise go without on the weekends.

I want to thank the planning committee who did a great amount of work. From South Beach Christian Center - Pastor Myron Ness, Carol Gleason and the cooks and youth group who helped at the picnic. From Twin Harbor Lutheran - Pastor Dan Wiktorek, Peggy Roice and Nell Rank. From South Beach Presbyterian, Pastor Tammy Stampfli, Mary Frazier and Nona Thompson. From Living Hope Church, Pastor Rick Henderson, Becky Henderson, Britnie Gallegos and Donna Palmer, who worked so hard on the donations.

A special thank you to Verna MacDonald, who was a great inspiration to me and did so much more than I could have asked for.

Thank you to Jessica Hatton for doing haircuts and to Joyce Cunningham and helpers from Child Evangelism Fellowship for face painting. Also to all who jumped in to help at the picnic. I didn’t get the name of the gentleman who came to play guitar, but thank you so much. Next year we will get you a sound system.

Thank you to all who made cotton candy and popcorn.

If I missed anyone, I am truly sorry but there were so many that made this the success it was, I can’t thank you all enough.

We count it a great success and hope to do it again next year.
