Well, Westport, it’s been a good ride.
We bought the Alaskan Motel almost 14 years ago and instantly felt welcome in the community. Through our great guests, friends and neighbors, we learned what a rich and rewarding area the South Beach is.
We have worked hard, both at our business and in our many volunteer activities, hoping to give back to the community. We have seen the ups and downs, good times and bad times, and lost some dear friends along the way.
We hope you will all welcome the new Alaskan Motel owners, Casey & Debbi Reeg, and treat them as well as you have treated us. We feel they are a great fit and will work hard to gain your trust and respect.
We love this community and you should too. Embrace it for what it is and work to help it thrive. Let our youth know that this is a place where they can be proud to say they belong and help them see the potential within themselves and within the community.
We are retiring and leaving Westport, but have so many great memories that this area will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts.
It truly has been a great ride.
