Grays Harbor PUD named local United Way 2015 Business of the Year

ABERDEEN– United Way of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties has named Grays Harbor PUD as the 2015 Business of the Year. The award was presented to the PUD at the United Way’s 57th Annual Meeting on June 16.

Long-time supporters of the United Way, PUD employees have contributed to their annual campaign for over twenty years through payroll-deduction and volunteering. The United Way’s commitment to serving local communities has been a major factor in PUD employee’s continued participation in their fundraising drive, with donations supporting twenty-four local United Way partner programs that provide basic needs, education, and health services to members of our local communities.

“I am grateful to the United Way for their work and their recognition. Moreover, I am so proud of our employees for their commitment to the Grays Harbor community,” said PUD General Manger Dave Ward. “When the Grays Harbor PUD employees authored our strategic plan, they emphasized community involvement. Working with the United Way to assist local organizations is a fantastic way to continue to give back to the community we serve.”

“Not only is the Grays Harbor PUD one of our largest employee cash donors, but employees like Carl Jonsson, Jeff Willis and Anna Woehler have all volunteered their time for United Way,” said United Way Board President Stacie Barnum. “This is what United Way is all about; helping one another, supporting your community, and giving back in times of need. Thank you to the PUD and the employees for your continued support of United Way here in Grays Harbor.”

PUD employees donated just over $16,000 in 2014 and hope to reach their goal of donating $19,000 in 2015.
