This year’s Tokeland Community Independence Day Parade and Celebration is set for this Saturday, July 4. The parade begins at 11 a.m. at the Tokeland Marina and winds its way up Kindred Avenue past the Tokeland Hotel.
If you’d like to be in the parade, you are most welcome. Bring your family and pets, deck yourselves out in red, white and blue, and join the fun. You can participate in your vehicles, ride a bike, a four-hooved critter or walk the route.
Register by 10 a.m. at the sign-up booth at the Tokeland Marina. An extra bonus for participants is a free lunch on the Tokeland Hotel grounds after your trek.
Just want to watch? Park anywhere along the route and ‘tailgate’ for a great time. Get ready to wave as the parade passes by and grab individually wrapped candy that many participants pass out along the way.
A hot dog, chips and soft drink picnic lunch will be available for sale for $3 on the grounds behind the Tokeland Hotel following the parade, along with games for the kids.
Vehicle access to Kindred Avenue, Emerson Avenue, 8th Street and Fisher Street in Tokeland will be temporarily restricted on Saturday between the 10:40 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for the parade.
