Grays Harbor Dems

March 5 - The Grays Harbor Democratic Party Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the Polish Club, 823 West First Street, Aberdeen. The group meets the first Thursday of each month except on holidays.

Read and Sing Aloud

Now - April 12 - Join other families and Timberland libraries all over Southwest Washington to read and sing aloud as a family each day from March 1 through April 12. Beginning March 1, pick up a free Read & Sing Aloud kit at the library and enter a prize drawing. Then have a rollicking good time reading and singing together all around your house.

Coalition for Infrastructure

March 5 - A general meeting of the Grays Harbor Coalition for Infrastructure be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Furford Gathering Center near Baskin Robbins at 104 S. Chehalis St., in Aberdeen. Topics: Impacts of GH deeper draft dredging of shipping channel and levees that might lessen flooding. The public is invited and encouraged to participate. More info: 360- 580-8564

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss

March 7 - noon-2 p.m., for children 3-9 years old. Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday, meet the Cat in the Hat, have some cake and do activities. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Westport Timberland Library. This event is part of the Family Read & Sing Aloud, a Timberland Regional Library districtwide program.

Tokeland/North Cove Chamber

March 10 – The Tokeland/North Cove Chamber of Commerce board will meet this month at Bayshore RV Park in Tokeland at 9 a.m. Everyone is invited. Refreshments will be served.

All individuals interested in the community, whether you are a business owner or not, are welcome to come and express your ideas and share your community needs.

The organization meets on the second Tuesday of each month.

Monthly Writers Group

Mar. 14 - South Beach Writers Group meets from Noon to 2 p.m. in the Westport library meeting room for writers high school age and older.

Bring an excerpt to read: Poem, short story, blog or book chapter. The goal is to inspire and encourage fellow writers. New members always welcome.

Art Journaling group

March 14 - An art journaling group meets from 10 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday each month at the South Beach Arts Association (SBAA) Community Center at 188 W. Ocean Ave. in uptown Westport.

The group is open to everyone. There is no obligation to attend each month, just drop in and pay the $7 per session fee.

All will share resources and learn techniques, tips, and tricks each month in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

Genealogy Society

March 16 - Grays Harbor Genealogy Society will meet at the Hoquiam Timberland Library, 621 K St. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Visitors Welcome.

University Women

March 16 - AAUW Twin Harbors Branch will meet at 2 p.m. at the home of Ann Morris in Hoquiam. AAUW advances equity for women and children through advocacy, education, and research. Alzheimer’s Support

March 17 - A free support group for unpaid care partners, family members and friends of individuals with memory loss meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 1– 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen at 420 N. Broadway St.

Grayland Children’s Hospital Guild

March 19 - The Grayland Children’s Hospital Guild will meet at 11 a.m. at South Beach Presbyterian Church on SR105, a quarter-mile south of the Grayland ‘T’. New members always welcome. Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month with the exception of July, August and December.

Preschool Story Time

March 20 - 11:30 a.m.-noon, for children ages 3 to 6. Join in a program of stories, rhymes, songs and movement games. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to join in.

Readers Group

March 20 - 10-11:00 a.m., for adults. Read or listen to “Enders Game” by Orson Scott Card and join your friends and neighbors in a lively discussion.

Texas Hold ‘em Tournament

March 21 - OHS Class of 2015 Senior Parents will host a No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em Poker Tournament on Saturday, March 21, at Westport South Beach VFW Post #3057. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. with cards in the air at 6 p.m. Play continues until midnight.

The 10,000 Big Stack Tournament has a $30 buy-in. Top 20 placers will win prizes valued form $20 to $300.

All proceeds will be used to provide Ocosta Senior Class of 2015 a Safe and Sober Graduation party.

Read and Sing Aloud

March 23-28 - Visit the library the week of March 23-28. Children who SING a nursery rhyme or the ABC song to their librarian will receive a set of stickers! This event is part of the Family Read & Sing Aloud, a Timberland Regional Library districtwide program.

American Legion

March. 24 - Westport American Legion Post #140 and its Ladies Auxiliary will meet in the VFW Youth Center for a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. meeting. The Youth Center is located behind the VFW Post Home at 211 E. Pacific Ave. in Westport.

Meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of each month February through November.

GH League of Women Voters

March 25 - The Grays Harbor League of Women Voters will meet at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 723 Eklund Avenue, in Hoquiam.

The League meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

March 27 - for children. Bring a favorite stuffed animal for a sleepover at the library. Tuck your animal in and say goodnight. Come back the next day to pick up your stuffed animal friend and find out what mischief the animals got into during their night at the library! This event is part of Family Read & Sing Aloud, a Timberland Regional Library districtwide program.

SBCO Driftwood Show Breakfast

April 4 - Held on Saturday of Driftwood Show weekend. South Beach Christian Outreach offers a hearty breakfast at very reasonable prices from 8 a.m. to noon at South Beach Presbyterian Church. The event also includes a raffle. More info: (360) 267-4442

Driftwood Show

April 4, 5 - Held at Grayland Community Hall. Amateur driftwood collectors’ exhibit and competition with everything from flotsam and jetsam to photography. Enter your own beach-combed treasures. GH Corvette meeting

April 7 - The next Grays Harbor Corvette Club meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. upstairs in the Aberdeen Top Foods meeting area.

All Corvette owners are welcome and encouraged to attend. The club meets the first Tuesday of each month.
