LEGO® Club

Jan. 8 - 3:30-4:30 p.m., for children. Children are welcome to have creative fun building with LEGO® bricks and make new friends at the library.

Family Story Time

Jan. 8 - 2:30-3 p.m., for children age 6 and younger and their families. All ages are welcome. Join in a program of stories, rhymes, songs and movement games.

Monthly Writers Group

Jan. 9 - South Beach Writers Group meets from Noon to 2 p.m. in the Westport library meeting room for writers high school age and older.

Bring an excerpt to read: Poem, short story, blog or book chapter. The goal is to inspire and encourage fellow writers. New members always welcome.

GH Genealogy Society

Jan. 9 - The Grays Harbor Genealogy Society will hold their January meeting at the Aberdeen Museum 111 E. 3rd St. Aberdeen, at 10 a.m. It time to brainstorm activities and speakers for 2016.

Visitors welcome. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.

Ocosta Booster Club

Jan. 10 - The Ocosta Booster Club monthly meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the Ocosta High School library. All South Beach citizens interested in our schools are invited to attend.

The booster club provides financial support for athletic and academic programs, sports banquets, individual camps, state competitions, sports equipment and scholarships for students at Ocosta Jr/Sr High.

The club now meets the second Sunday of each month.

Fire District #3

Jan. 12 - Grays Harbor Fire District #3 commissioners’ monthly meetings are held at Old Westport City Hall at 506. N. Montesano St. in uptown Westport. Use the door next to the former Police Department entrance.

South Beach Fire & EMS Board

Jan. 14 - The South Beach Fire and EMS Board meets in Westport City Council chambers on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.

The public is welcome to attend.

Readers Group

Jan. 15 - 10-11 a.m., for adults. Read or listen to “The Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame, then join your friends and neighbors for a lively discussion.

Library closed

Jan. 18. All Timberland Libraries will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Libraries will resume regular schedules Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Grayland Children’s Hospital Guild

Jan. 19 - The Grayland Children’s Hospital Guild will meet at 11 a.m. South Beach Presbyterian Church on SR105, a quarter-mile south of the Grayland ‘T’. New members always welcome. Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month with the exception of July, August and December.

Broomstick Pool

Jan. 28 – Broomstick Pool fun returns to the Local Bar & Grill in Grayland on Thursdays, starting at 1 p.m. It costs $3 to play, with the pot split among the top finishers.

VFW Men’s Auxiliary

Feb. 1 - Westport South Beach VFW Post #3057 Men’s Auxiliary will meet at 6 p.m. in the VFW Post Home in Westport. All Men’s Auxiliary members and potential members are encouraged to attend. The group meets the first Monday of each month.

Grayland Water District meeting date change

Feb. 2 - The regular monthly Grays Harbor Water District No. 1 Commission meeting will be held at 5 p.m. in the GH Water District No. 1 office located at 2058 SR105.

Meetings are normally held on the first Tuesday of each month.

Outreach Spaghetti Dinner

Feb. 2 - South Beach Christian Outreach (SBCO) will offer a fundraising spaghetti dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Living Hope Church, located at 617 S. Forrest St. in uptown Westport.

A $5 donation is requested to help defray the cost of your meal and to help neighbors in need on the South Beach.

November’s dinner will also include a jewelry show and sale.

The dinners are offered the first Tuesday of each month with the exception of December.

SBCO Board meeting

Feb. 2 - The monthly South Beach Christian Outreach (SBCO) board meeting is held at 3:30 p.m. at Living Hope Church, located at 617 S. Forrest St. in uptown Westport.

Anyone interested in learning more about how SBCO helps neighbors in need in our community or volunteering to help is welcome to attend. The board meets the first Tuesday of each month.

North Willapa Artist Community

Feb. 2 - The North Willapa Artist Community will meet at 6 p.m. at 2746 Hollywood, in Tokeland. Turn west past the Fire Station onto Hollywood.

The group promotes the study and appreciation of art through exhibitions, fairs, lectures, classes and public displays in the Tokeland and North Cove area.

Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC)

Feb. 3 - The regularly scheduled meeting of the City of Westport Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Westport City Council Chambers at 506 N. Montesano St. the first Wednesday of each month. The public is welcome to attend the meetings.

The committee studies options and considers submitted proposals for using the 5% excise taxes collected in the city each year that are earmarked for tourism promotion, and then makes recommendations to the City Council for specific expenditures approval.

Grays Harbor Dems

Feb. 4 - The Grays Harbor Democratic Party Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the Polish Club, 823 West First Street, Aberdeen. The group meets the first Thursday of each month except on holidays.

Friends of Library meeting

Feb. 4 - 1 p.m. Join them to discover what’s new at the library, learn how to become more involved in the Westport community and meet new people. More info: 360- 268-0521

Grayland Neighborhood Watch

Feb. 4 - Members of Grayland Neighborhood Watch and all other interested South Beach citizens will meet at 7 p.m. at the Grayland Community Hall this month. The planned guest speaker is Randy Ross, who is running for the GH County Commission seat currently held by Frank Gordon. All South Beach citizens are invited to attend.

The group usually meets the first Thursday of each month.

PSA Ocean Anglers

Feb. - PSA Ocean Anglers will start meeting again this month at 6 p.m. at McCausland Hall in Westport’s Marina District. DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED. All are welcome. Membership is not a requirement to attend the meetings.

Parks & Rec meeting

Feb. 8 - South Beach Parks & Recreation District commission members will meet at 6 p.m. at the Grayland Community Hall The District owns and manages the Grayland Community Hall and its surrounding grounds.

All community members residing within the boundaries of the Ocosta School District are automatically members of the Parks & Recreation District. Public attendance at meetings, participation and suggestions are encouraged and welcomed.

The commissioners usually meet the first Monday of each month.

Pacific County Dems meet

Feb. 8 - Pacific County Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. at the Pacific County Courthouse Annex, 1216 W. Robert Bush Drive in South Bend.

The group meets in South Bend on the second Monday of February, April, June, October and December, with its annual picnic in July.

American Legion

Feb. 23 - Westport American Legion Post #140 and its Ladies Auxiliary will meet in the VFW Youth Center for a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. meeting. The Youth Center is located behind the VFW Post Home at 211 E. Pacific Ave. in Westport.

Meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of each month February through November.

Chamber Gala and Auction

Feb. 27 - The annual Westport Grayland Chamber of Commerce Gala and Auction is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27, in Westport.

Enjoy a buffet dinner, two silent auctions, a live auction and live music.

The event includes a no-host social hour with silent auctions, and a catered full-course dinner followed by a live auction for great items.
