MONTESANO— On Tuesday, March 17, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Ocosta Elementary School near Westport in reference a reported sex offense.
Deputies contacted school officials and learned that an 11-year-old female student reported to the school counselor allegations of being sexually abused by her 56-year-old grandfather.
Deputies subsequently interviewed the child and learned that she lived with her grandparents near Westport and reported being abused by her grandfather the night before.
Deputies contacted the grandfather and interviewed him. Shortly thereafter, the grandfather was arrested and transported to the Grays Harbor County Jail where he was booked for Rape of a Child 1st degree.
The grandmother was also contacted and has been cooperative with investigators.
