Countywide burn ban for Grays Harbor and Pacific counties

County-wide burn bans in Grays Harbor and Pacific counties took effect on Monday and Tuesday, June 22 and 23.

Recreational campfires are allowed if built in an approved fire pit such as those typically found in local, county and state park campgrounds.

The campfire pit shall be no greater than 3-feet in diameter and constructed of a metal ring, brick, or stone 8- inches above the ground surface.

The campfire shall have an area of 10- feet around it cleared free of flammable material and at least 20-feet of clearance overhead of flammable material or fuels.

The campfire must be attended at all times by a responsible person at least 16-years of age with the ability to extinguish the fire with a shovel, five gallon bucket of water or an outstretched hose line.

With the summer nearly upon us, dry weather and shifting winds create a condition for controlled fires to become uncontrolled and spread very quickly.
