The City of Westport Crime Watch team made their debut the weekend of June 20 and 21. During their first outing, an unsecured tool shed was located in the 1100 block of Coho Court.

They also conducted vehicle and foot patrols during Rusty Scupper’s Pirate Days last weekend. The crime watch group reported three suspicious incidents while on patrol. Two involved persons, one involved a vehicle.

The team will be on foot patrols on Westhaven Drive and in the parking lots in the Marina District during the 4th of July weekend.

In other crime watch news, at their June 8 meeting, the Westport City Council approved an expenditure of up to $1,200 for the purchase of Crime/Block Watch signs and window clings that signify residents that are in a Neighborhood Block Watch area for use throughout the city.
