According to Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate, the Grays Harbor District Court administrator has informed his office that unknown individuals recently have been calling or emailing local citizens with respect to taking care of warrants.
In one case, a local resident actually gave the person on the phone his debit card information.
“Courts do not communicate in this way,” said Shumate. “They will mail notices to your last known address. If a person has a warrant for his/her arrest, law enforcement may make a personal visit on the warrant. It is not done by the phone or email,” he said.
