All Sports Kickoff at Ocosta Jr-Sr High School Aug. 15

A major change in the Ocosta High School sports kickoffs to alleviate paperwork and time for parents has been implemented. Instead of three seasonal kickoffs and three sets of the same paperwork to be filled out, there will be only one kickoff for all three high school and junior high sports seasons.

Athletes’ parents need to attend

Parents of all athletes, regardless of the sport season(s) in which your child(ren) intend to be involved, need to attend the inaugural All Sports Kickoff on Monday, Aug. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Ocosta Jr.-Sr. High School gym where paperwork will be filled out once for the entire school year.

Gym first stop

All players and parents will report to the gym for concussion and sudden cardiac arrest information, as well as a review of WIAA rules applying to eligibility.

Athletic Code, medical release, concussion and sudden cardiac arrest forms will be distributed.

Commons second stop

After the presentation in the gym, parents and players will then go to the commons to get sport-specific game and practice schedules, safety and team rules paperwork, and lettering requirements from coaches.

ASB cards will also be available for purchase at the kickoff.

Athlete requirements

All players must have a current physical, ASB card, have all fines paid, and be in good standing with their grades and attendance to play sports at Ocosta.

2015-16 best season in school history

Ocosta is coming off its best sports year in school history. One state championship, seven state appearances and 11 of 12 teams reaching the post season.

All head coaches return for the 2016-17 school year.
