Longtime Westport resident, Michael Joe Smith, 61, died Jan. 16, 2015 at his home.
Mike was born Dec. 11, 1953 in Denver, Colo.
He was a commercial fisherman who loved fishing and his many fishermen friends.
Mike is survived by his longtime life partner, Dalie Morgan of Westport; son Levi Smith of Sebastopol, Calif.; daughter Jessica Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana; his father, Harry Smith of Brea, Calif., his brother, Marty Haynie of Cave Junction, Ore.; sister, Tami Wood of Calif. and stepfather, Marvin Haynie of Cave Junction, Ore. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Hanie.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Mike in the Youth Center behind the Westport South Beach V.F.W. Post Home at 3:00 p.m. this Sunday, March 22.
There will be a potluck with the main dish provided. Please come and share stories and memories of Mike.
