Karleen Iris Vandenberg, 86, Grayland resident, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.
Iris was born on Feb. 26, 1929 in Portland, Ore. to Karl F. and Ivah N. (Powell) Meister. They moved to Spokane, Wash. where she graduated from Catholic School. Later, she moved to Seattle where she married Francis “Dutch” Vandenberg. He died Jan. 28, 2006.
They moved to Maple Valley where she owned and operated “Vandenberg’s Lilly Pad Ceramic Shop” in the 80s and 90s. In 1993, she moved to Grayland, Wash.
Iris loved cats and was active in Audubon Society, Boy’s Town and the South Beach Buccaneers.
She is survived by grandchildren: Jennifer, Mark, Nicole, Jason, Margo, Stacey and Tammy and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ivah.
Per her request, there will be no services.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Wash.
