Work is well underway on a major remodel of the former Washington Crab Producers, Inc. storage building at 1989 N. Nyhus St. in Westport’s Marina District. New infrastructure in the building, along with an additional new structure behind it, will allow the company to create a new seafood processing line and provide a space for shipping and receiving of product.

JH Kelly Industrial Construction of Longview is the general contractor for the project.

Building remodel

The project includes major interior demolition and remodeling of the existing 14,854 sq. ft. storage building fronting Nyhus Street that will house a new seafood processing line.

Work on the building includes upgrades to existing water and power utilities and the installation of aboveground propane tanks and associated underground lines.

New building

A new approximately 7,794 sq. ft. building will be constructed behind the existing structure on property owned by Washington Crab Producers, as well as a portion of an alley that the Westport City Council vacated on March 31 at the company’s request. The new building will be used for shipping and receiving product.

The area also will include a parking lot and loading access to E. Patterson Street.

Waste water line

Washington Crab will also construct a 1,400 foot buried waste water line to convey process wastewater to its existing treatment facility.
