Willapa Bay buoy No. 8 broke loose from its anchor and washed ashore at Washaway Beach on Tuesday, March 8, a half mile north of Jacobson’s Jetty. It was retrieved on March 11 for its return to the sea duty.
This 30-foot oceanographic research buoy reported to have escaped from its anchor off Newport, Ore., was discovered washed up on the Westhaven Beach early March 10. It was picked up the following day.
