Two fire districts and City EMS levies passing after first ballot count

The City of Westport, GH Fire District #3 in Rural Westport from the city limits to SR105, GH Fire District #14 in the Ocosta, Johns River and Markham areas and Pacific County Fire District #5 in North Cove and Tokeland all had one-year emergency medical care and ambulance services (EMS) levies on the Aug. 2, Primary Election ballot.

There was no GH Fire District #11 (Grayland) levy request this time around.

Election Day results:

One-year replacement Emergency Medical Services levies require a simple majority vote to pass. After the first ballot count on election night, all districts and the City of Westport with the exception of GH Fire District 14 in the Ocosta/Johns River area were passing by the following percentages:

City of Westport

In addition to its regular levy, the City of Westport is requesting $513,000 (approximately $1.61 per thousand of assessed valuation) for collection in 2017. After the first ballot count on Election Day, the measure is passing with a 57.3% Yes vote.

GH Fire District 3

In addition to its regular levy, GH Fire Protection District No. 3 is requesting $120,000 (approximately $2.10 per thousand of assessed valuation) for collection in 2017. After the first ballot count on Election Day, the measure is passing with a 56.44% Yes vote.

GH Fire District 14

In addition to its regular levy, GH Fire Protection District #14 is requesting $194,000 (approx. $1.80 per thousand of assessed valuation) for collection in 2017. After the first ballot count on Election Day, the measure is failing with a 48.47% Yes vote.

Pacific County District 5

In addition to its regular levy, Fire District #5 is requesting $197,735 (approximately $2.39 per thousand of assessed valuation) for collection in 2017. After the first ballot count on Election Day, the measure is passing with a 69.59% Yes vote.
