Patrol Officer Brad Staab was recently named Westport Police Department 2014 Officer of the Year. He received a plaque from the City to commemorate his selection.
Staab was selected for the award by vote submissions from his fellow officers. “I’m honored to have been chosen by my peers for this recognition,” Staab said upon learning of his selection.
According to Westport Police Chief Tracy Rosenow, “There are many reasons why Officer Staab was singled-out for this award. Among them, he works well with his peers and supervisors and with community members. Brad’s very proactive, enthusiastic and dependable. As one of three officers who live locally and are potentially available for emergency callouts during their off-hours, Brad always drops whatever he’s doing and responds. He also has a proven history of showing great restraint and effectiveness in dealing with highly dangerous situations,” said Rosenow.
After several years with Washington State Parks on the South Beach, Staab joined the WPD in early Sept. of 2013, graduating from the state law enforcement academy in early March of last year.
Masonic recognition
Additionally, Staab was one of the guests of honor, along with his wife Dana, at the Grays Harbor Masonic Lodge #52 Surf and Turf Dinner/Awards and Auction held in Hoquiam March 14. The event annually recognizes local police and fire department personnel for their contributions to Grays Harbor communities.
