One injured in two-vehicle collision in Grayland

According to a Washington State Patrol accident memo, On Thursday, Feb. 19, Grayland resident, Randy J. Rust, 67, was southbound on SR105 in a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck when it crossed over the centerline. His vehicle struck a northbound 2009 Nissan Maxima driven by Westport resident Rebeckah M. Axelsen, 50.
The accident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. at Milepost 28 near the intersection of Marine Drive.
Axelsen was injured and transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital by South Beach EMS for treatment. Due to privacy laws, no information is available on her condition.
Neither Rust, nor the passenger in Axelsen’s vehicle, two-year-old Nadia Mauk of Westport, was injured.
According to the State Patrol, all were wearing safety restraints at the time of the accident and no drugs or alcohol were involved. Mauk’s vehicle was totaled and Rust’s had reportable damage. Both were towed from the scene.
The cause of the accident was still under investigation as we went to press.
