At 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, the National Weather Service issued a RED FLAG WARNING for Grays Harbor County and multiple other counties in Washington State through 11 p.m. Friday, July 31.
A RED FLAG WARINING means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. This means that fire danger is extreme!
WHERE
According to the WARNING memo, critical fire weather conditions are expected across south Washington, the west portion of the Olympic Mountains, North Cascades, Central Cascades, east portion of the Olympic Mountains, the North and Central Oregon Cascades and foothills, all of the interior lowlands and the central Oregon Coast Range.
HUMIDITY LOW
Relative humidity is predicted to be 10 to 20 percent in many areas. Overnight recoveries will be limited along and above thermal belts.
TEMPERATURES HIGH
Temperatures will be generally 95 to 100 over the lowlands and 80 degrees to low 90s in the higher elevations.
IMPACTS
The combination of an increasingly hot, dry and unstable environment and very dry fuels may result in rapid growth of new or existing fires and can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
