Joyce Lindberg, in partnership with her mom, Del Saylor, and her son and daughter-in-law, Cameron and Summer Sanders, opened their new business, 3Gs Coffee, Candy & Deli, on May 9 in Westport’s Marina District.
Specializing in deli sandwiches, soups, salads, a full line of espresso coffees and a wide variety of homemade candies and pastries, the Marina District’s newest business is located on the corner of Westhaven Drive and Cove Avenue right across the street from the Port of Grays Harbor observation tower.
3Gs Coffee, Candy & Deli is open Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The business offers a family-friendly atmosphere and menu.
Espressos & pastries
Thirsty? What’s your pleasure? Choose from lattes, breves, mochas, cappuccinos and Americanos. Order your drink hot or iced. Blended coffees, Chai tea and smoothies in a variety of flavors are also available.
Pastries to go with all those coffees? You bet! Enjoy fresh-baked scones, cinnamon rolls, giant cookies, brownies and even Rice Krispy treats. Each day offers a different variety to choose from. Stop by and see what’s just come out of the oven.
Breakfast, lunch & dinner
Deli offerings are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Try one of a variety of breakfast sandwiches, a scone or a bagel with cream cheese to kick-start your day.
Lunch brings the opportunity for the deli sandwich of your dreams with a wide variety of meats, cheeses, veggies, breads and condiments available. Just work down your wish list and they’ll be piled high and wide on your choice of bread from several varieties available. Each sandwich is served with a small side salad-of-the-day.
You can even order up a Surfer Special – Peanut butter and banana on your choice of bread with a bag of chips on the side.
And, just for kids – 3Gs offers a peanut butter and jelly or grilled cheese half-sandwich with chips and a cookie.
Don’t forget to ask what the daily sandwich special is before you order – you just might change your mind…
Box lunches are also available for fishers and those who would like a picnic on-the-go, perhaps at the picnic tables in the park right across the street under the observation tower?
Soup and salad
Joyce cooks up a different from scratch soup Mondays through Thursdays, with homemade chowder on the menu on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Soups and chowder are served with a generous hunk of warm garlic bread.
In the mood for a salad? How about grilled chicken, chicken spinach or a chef’s salad? Order singly or in combo with soup or chowder at a special price.
Sweet tooth treasures
The variety of homemade candies is large, including but not limited to several varieties of fudge, salted caramels, peanut butter cups, hay stacks, peanut clusters, caramel marshmallows, toffee pecan logs and peppermint bark.
There’s also a wall of jars full of sweet tooth favorites, including saltwater taffy and other tried and true individual-bite delights.
Comfort
3GS deli offers a variety of seating options, including tables and chairs that can easily be rearranged to accommodate larger groups, a comfortable small lounge area at the south end of the building with a two-seater couch and chairs that overlook the marina, and comfy individual chairs, as well as a handcrafted driftwood bar and padded stools along the north wall windows with a great view of the tower, revetment and Lighthouse Dune Trail.
Family matters
In the food service industry for 35 years, Joyce is the daily driving force behind the business, accompanied in the kitchen for different shifts by Summer, Cameron and various other family members, up to and including grandkids that pitch in, as well.
Joyce’s mom raised her four children on waitress wages, and Joyce followed in her footsteps by first waiting tables and eventually owning and operating her own upscale restaurant in Depoe Bay for several years in the early 2000s. She then relocated to Oklahoma for a few years before returning to the Oregon coast.
The 3Gs business name comes from the three generations involved. The family also owns a log trucking firm in South Bend – 3Gs Trucking, as well as a modified car that Cameron races regularly in Elma under 3Gs sponsorship.
Winter plans
Joyce says that she’s in for the ‘long haul’ when it comes to offering great food and service to her customers. So much so, she’s already planning to be open this winter, offering special dinner nights, including murder mystery dinners and karaoke nights, with a special menu planned for each one that will encourage entire families to come, participate and enjoy.
Stop by soon and welcome Westport’s newest enterprise to the local business community. It’s bound to be a sweet experience.
