More than three-week Westhaven State Park closure for parking lot paving
Custom Search 2
Westhaven State Park will be closed for a paving project from Monday, March 23, to Friday, April 17, for parking lot paving work. This park construction closure will significantly impact beach access and parking to the Westport Jetty and the beach directly south of the jetty. This area is very popular with surfers and jetty fishermen this time of year.
Dune Trail dead-ends
The ADA accessible 1.3-mile Westport Lighthouse Dune Trail, which is actually a concrete boardwalk along the beach, runs between Westport Light State Park and Westport’s Marina District through Westhaven State Park. During the parking lot construction, the trail will dead-end at the park on both sides with no detours available around the construction.
Half Moon Bay
Access to the Half Moon Bay portion of Westhaven State Park will remain open, with limited parking available near the U.S. Coast Guard observation tower.
Beach driving
The ocean beach will remain open for driving to the south boundary of Westhaven State Park through April 15, when the annual summer closure begins.
