Sails ho! Historic tall ships arrive for Pirate Daze Festival

Tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain will make port in the Westport Marina on Friday evening for a weekend of tours and sails during Rusty Scupper’s Pirate Daze.

The Grays Harbor Historical Seaport will bring its two tall ships, the Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain, to Westport for Rusty Scupper’s Pirate Daze this weekend.

The ships will welcome visitors for walk-on tours on Friday afternoon and Sunday morning, as well as offer sailings on Friday evening and both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Friday, June 26, 4-5 p.m.

Sunday, June 28, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

Come aboard the Lady Washington and/or Hawaiian Chieftain for a self-guided tour of each ship. Crew will be on hand in 18th century-style costume to answer questions and tell you more about the ships and their lives aboard.

A ticket is not required. A $3 donation per person is appreciated.

Adventure Sails

The Lady Washington will offer a two-hour Sunset Sail Friday evening, June 26, from 6-8 p.m.; an Adventure Sail on Saturday, June 27, from 3-5 p.m. and another Adventure Sail on Sunday from 2-4 p.m.

Each sail features a living history experience with demonstrations of tall ship handling, sea shanty singing, and maritime storytelling.

A ticket is required for all passengers, including babes in arms. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $45 per person.
