Every summer in mid-July for more than 20 years, South Beach locals and visitors have the distinct pleasure of checking out great classic rides that members of the Eastside Street Rod Club of Redmond bring to the coast.
These four-wheeled rolling works of art will be on display this Saturday, July 20, in Westport’s Marina District from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Look for a nice turnout of local car enthusiasts with their own very special rides, as well.
The area along Westhaven Drive from Dock Street to Cove Avenue by the Port of Grays Harbor Observation Tower will be blocked from vehicle traffic from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The street along the esplanade will become a chrome-spangled walking mall where you can get up close for a personal peek at vintage vehicles and collectible classic cars.
At 3:30 p.m., club members will rev up and head on out for a short parade north along Westhaven Drive to Cove Avenue near the Port observation tower.
In addition to sharing the beauty of their rides, for many years now, members of the Eastside Street Rods organization have also donated generously to the Westport South Beach Food Bank, and 2013 is no exception. When you see one of these fine vehicles on South Beach highways and byways this weekend, be sure to wave or honk your horn in welcome and appreciation for their generosity to our community’s hungry.
