Patience paid off for Ocosta as the Wildcats slugged their way to 11-1 and 13-0 victories over South Bend at GAR Park last Friday.

The Wildcats (7-1, 8-3) worked the count early in the first game and capitalized when walks and errors resulted in the game winning runs coming around to score in the first inning. Ocosta batted around to score seven runs in the sixth inning.

“It was a great pitchers’ duel going into the fifth inning and then we broke things open,” Ocosta head coach Mike Allton said. “We were patient at the plate and we took advantage of their relief pitching.”

In the second game, Ocosta’s bats didn’t need much time to heat up as the Wildcats put up three runs each in the first and third innings.

“Everything kind of came together,” Allton said of the nightcap. “It was good to have a complete game tonight.”

Allton cited Cole Hatton for his strong pitching performance in the first game.

Ocosta hosts Hoquiam JV on Tuesday, while South Bend (3-3) will be off until they host Chief Leschi on April 25.
