Ivan Jess “Bud” Bushnell, 89, Grayland resident since 1991, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at Dolphin Cove Care Center in Tokeland, Wash.
Bud was born on April 13, 1929, in Sterling, Colo. to William Sanford and Carrie M. (Bowen) Bushnell. His family moved to Bonnie Lake, Wash. when he was an infant. He attended school in Sumner and joined the Air Force in 1947 as a Machinist until his discharge in 1950. He then worked for Boeing for a short time. Bud remained in Bonnie Lake until moving to Eatonville in 1966. He worked for Corliss and Sons of Sumner as an Operating Engineer. Bud retired in 1991.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for 60 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He built both of his homes in Bonnie Lake and Sumner. He later remodeled his home in Grayland.
Bud is survived by his daughters: Judy Arbuckle and Louise (Pete) Brewer of Grayland; step-sons: Fritz Bushnell of Tacoma, Wash. and Robert (Carla) Bushnell of Spanaway, Wash.; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
There will be a private family gathering at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Wash.
