Westport Readers Group

April 21 – The Westport Readers Group will at 10 a.m. at the Westport Timberland Library to discuss “Brideshead Revisited” by Evelyn Waugh. All are welcome and the book is available through the Timberland libraries.

Tokeland All-school Reunion

Women’s Prayer and Praise group

April 25 – Christian Women’s Prayer and Praise group meets each Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Living Hope Church located at 617 S. Forrest St. in Westport. All women welcome.

Grief Support meeting

April 26 -A Grief Gathering, a safe place to share with others also suffering from loss, will be held at 6 p.m. on the second and fourthWednesday of each month at the Westport Senior House. For more information, call 408-826-4729.

American Legion

April 25 – Westport American Legion Post #140 and its Ladies Auxiliary will meet in the VFW Youth Center for a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. meeting. The Youth Center is located behind the VFW Post Home at 211 E. Pacific Ave. in Westport.

Broomstick Pool

April 27 – Broomstick Pool matches are played at the Local Bar & Grill the last Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. Sixteen players maximum may play in each tourney. Cost is $3 per person with the pot split three ways for the top scores. You may sign up in advance or play space available on match days.

Coast Cleanup

April 29 – It’s a spring ‘sweep’ for trash along coastal beaches sponsored by Olympic Coast Cleanup. Grab a litterbag and join in! More info: www.coastsavers.org

Westport/South Beach Senior Center

May 1 – This month’s board meeting is at 1 p.m. at 114 E. Pacific Ave. in uptown Westport. All seniors 55 and older and living in the Ocosta School District are welcome and urged to attend. The Senior House is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Lunch is served at noon for $3. With the exception of holidays, board meetings are held the first Monday of each month.

Parks & Rec meeting

May 1 – South Beach Parks & Recreation District commission members meet at 6 p.m. at the Grayland Community Hall. The District owns and manages the Grayland Community Hall and its surrounding grounds. The commissioners usually meet the first Monday of each month.

Grayland Water District

May 2 –Regular monthly Grays Harbor Water District No. 1 Commission meetings now will be held at 3 p.m. in the Water District office located at 2058 SR105. Meetings are normally held on the first Tuesday of each month.

North Willapa Artist Community

May 2 – The North Willapa Artist Community will have a potluck meeting at 6 p.m. at the new Nelson Crab retail building at the Tokeland Marina. Any and all artists are welcome. More info on Facebook: North Willapa Artist Community. The organization meets the first Tuesday of each month.

Outreach Spaghetti Dinner

May 2 – South Beach Christian Outreach (SBCO) will offer a fundraising spaghetti dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Living Hope Church, located at 617 S. Forrest St. in uptown Westport. A $5 donation is requested to help defray the cost of your meal and to help neighbors in need on the South Beach. The dinners are offered the first Tuesday of each month with the exception of December.

Lodging Tax Advisory Committee LTAC

May 3 – The regularly scheduled meeting of the City of Westport Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Westport City Council Chambers at 506 N. Montesano St. The public is welcome to attend the meetings.

The committee studies options and considers submitted proposals for using the 5% excise taxes collected in the city each year that are earmarked for tourism promotion, and then makes recommendations to the City Council for specific expenditures approval. The meetings usually are held the first Wednesday of the month September through June.

Friends of Library

May 4 – 1 p.m. Discover what’s new at the library, learn how to become more involved in the Westport community and meet new people. The group meets the first Thursday of each month except: They meet the first Thursday after Labor Day in Sept. and do not meet in Dec., Jan., June, July and Aug. More info: 268-0521

DAR meeting

May 4 – The Robert Gray Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at the United Methodist Church on the Corner of 5th and L St. in Hoquiam. Lunch at 11:30 a.m. Please bring a sack lunch. Meeting at 12 p.m. Visitors welcome. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month.

Grayland Neighborhood Watch

May 4 – Members of Grayland Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m., at the Grayland Community Hall. All South Beach citizens are invited to attend. The group usually meets the first Thursday of each month.

GH County Dems

May 4 – The Grays Harbor Democratic Party Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the Polish Club, 823 West First Street, Aberdeen. The group meets the first Thursday of every month.

Ocosta Rec. Oyster Feed

May 6 – All you can eat – steamed, stewed, and fried oysters; spaghetti, salads, rolls, and juice. Beer and wine available. 3 to 7 p.m. at the Ocosta Recreation Hall. More info: 648-2190

Tokeland/North Cove Chamber

May 9 – Tokeland/North Cove Chamber of Commerce members will meet at the Tokeland Hotel at 9 a.m. All individuals interested in the community, whether you are a business owner or not, are welcome to come and express your ideas and share your community needs. Meetings are usually held the second Tuesday of the month.

SBCO Board meeting

May 9 – The South Beach Christian Outreach (SBCO) board of directors will hold a workshop meeting at 4:30 p.m. at Living Hope Church, located at 617 S. Forrest St. in uptown Westport.

Anyone interested in learning more about how SBCO helps neighbors in need in our community or volunteering to help is welcome to attend. The board meets the second Tuesday of each month.

Fire District No. 3

May 9 – Grays Harbor Fire District #3 commissioners’ monthly meetings are held at Old Westport City Hall at 506. N. Montesano St. in uptown Westport. Use the door next to the former Police Department entrance. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. More info: 360- 268-7461

May 10 – South Beach Writers Group meets every second Wednesday of the month from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Westport Library meeting room Anyone interested in joining to encourage or be encouraged in your writing endeavors is welcome. May 11 – The South Beach Fire and EMS Board meets in Westport City Council chambers on the second Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. The public is welcome.

Westport Timberland Library LEGO Club

May 12 – at 3:30 p.m. for children in grades 1-6.

Ocosta Booster Club

May 14 – The monthly meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the Ocosta High School library. All South Beach citizens interested in our schools welcome.

The booster club provides financial support for athletic and academic programs, sports banquets, individual camps, state competitions, sports equipment and scholarships for students at Ocosta Jr/Sr High. The group meets the second Sunday of each month at 7 p.m. Sept. through June.

Alzheimer’s Support Group

May 16 – Alzheimer’s Association family caregiver support meets from 1–2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen, located at 420 N. Broadway St. More info: 360- 533-2277. Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month.

American Civil Liberties Union

May 17 – The Grays Harbor ACLU will hold a potluck meeting at 6 p.m. at Events on Emerson, 212 4th St., Hoquiam. All are welcome. The group meets the third Wednesday of every month.

Grayland Children’s Hospital Guild

May 18 – Grayland Children’s Hospital Guild will meet at 11 a.m. at South Beach Presbyterian Church on SR105, a quarter-mile south of the Grayland ‘T’. New members always welcome. Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month with the exception of July, Aug. and Dec. More info: 268-7186

Weekend With The Fleet

May 27-28 – Commercial Fishing Festival. Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westport Maritime Museum: Arts & crafts for kids, informational displays, Sea Scout displays, vendors, beer garden, food & more. 7 p.m. – Fisher poets’ readings, live music. : 8 p.m. — Along the Esplanade. — Light up the Docks Celebration: Luminaries available to honor cancer victims and survivors fundraiser. Sunday at Maritime Museum: 11:30 a.m.to 3 p.m. — WEfish Clam Chowder Feed. Proceeds to local lost fishermen’s fund.

Blessing of the Fleet

May 28 — Join the South Beach Ministerial Association at 1 p.m. in a moving ceremony at the Fishermen’s Monument on Neddie Rose Drive in Westport for the Annual Blessing of the Fleet. More info: 268—9422

VFW Memorial Day Service

May 29 – Join local military organizations and military fraternities at 11 a.m. as they honor those lost in battle at a brief, but moving ceremony held at Veterans Memorial Park at the Street of Flags, 1800 S. Montesano St., just south of the Westport City limits. More info: 268—9543
