Adult Winter Reading

Grayland Children’s Hospital Guild

Feb. 16 – Grayland Children’s Hospital Guild will meet at 11 a.m. at South Beach Presbyterian Church on SR105, a quarter-mile south of the Grayland ‘T’. New members always welcome. Friends of Library Readers Group

Feb. 17- 10 a.m. at the Westport Library to discuss “Skid Road, an Informal Portrait of Seattle” by Murray Morgan. The book is available from the library. Everyone is invited to join in the discussion.

Library LEGO® Club

Feb. 17 – 3:30-4:30 p.m., for children grades 1-6. Explore your creativity and exercise your brain! Make new friends and have fun building with LEGO® bricks at the library. Make your own creations or get inspiration from the library’s collection of LEGO® books.

Library closed

Feb. 20 – All Timberland Regional Libraries will be closed Monday, Feb. 20 in observance of Presidents’ Day. Libraries will resume regular hours Tuesday, Feb. 21.

‘Dune Our Thing’ artisans meet

Feb. 21 – Artisans and crafters gather in like company to visit and share ideas while working on individual projects at the Westport Senior Center every Tuesday. The building is open from 6-8:30 p.m. Attendees are requested to donate $1-$2 per visit to the Senior Center to help defray utilities costs. More info: 268-5159

Women’s Prayer and Praise group

Feb. 21 – Christian Women’s Prayer and Praise group meets each Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Living Hope Church located at 617 S. Forrest St. in Westport. All women welcome.

American Legion

Feb. 28 – Westport American Legion Post #140 and its Ladies Auxiliary will meet in the VFW Youth Center for a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. meeting. The Youth Center is located behind the VFW Post Home at 211 E. Pacific Ave. in Westport. Meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of each month February through November.

Lodging Tax Advisory Committee LTAC

March 1 – The regularly scheduled meeting of the City of Westport Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Westport City Council Chambers at 506 N. Montesano St. The public is welcome to attend the meetings.

The committee studies options and considers submitted proposals for using the 5 percent excise taxes collected in the city each year that are earmarked for tourism promotion, and then makes recommendations to the City Council for specific expenditures approval. The meetings usually are held the first Wednesday of the month September through June.

Friends of Library – Geocaching

March 2 – 1 p.m. Judy Nyman-Schaaf will present information on geocaching. Everyone’s welcome to attend.

DAR meeting

March 2 – The Robert Gray Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at the United Methodist Church on the Corner of 5th and L St. in Hoquiam. Lunch at 11:30 a.m. Please bring a sack lunch. Meeting at 12 p.m. Visitors welcome. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month.

March 2 – Dec. 1 – Members of Grayland Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m., at the Grayland Community Hall. All South Beach citizens are invited to attend. The group usually meets the first Thursday of each month.

GH County Dems

March 2 – The Grays Harbor Democratic Party Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the Polish Club, 823 West First Street, Aberdeen. The group meets the first Thursday of every month.

Nerd Club at Westport Library

March 3 – 3-4 p.m., for teens. Nerds assemble! Talk about games, manga, comics, and all things nerdy.

Westport/South Beach Senior Center

March 6 – This month’s board meeting is at 1 p.m. at 114 E. Pacific Ave. in uptown Westport. All seniors 55 and older and living in the Ocosta School District are welcome and urged to attend. The Senior House is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Lunch is served at noon for $3. With the exception of holidays, board meetings are held the first Monday of each month.

Parks &Rec meeting

March 6 – South Beach Parks &Recreation District commission members meet at 6 p.m. at the Grayland Community Hall. The District owns and manages the Grayland Community Hall and its surrounding grounds.

All community members residing within the boundaries of the Ocosta School District are automatically members of the District. Public attendance at meetings, participation and suggestions are encouraged and welcomed.

The commissioners usually meet the first Monday of each month.

Grayland Water District

March 7 –Regular monthly Grays Harbor Water District No. 1 Commission meetings now will be held at 3 p.m. in the Water District office located at 2058 SR105. Meetings are normally held on the first Tuesday of each month.

North Willapa Artist Community

March 7 – The North Willapa Artist Community will have a potluck meeting at 6 p.m. at the new Nelson Crab retail building at the Tokeland Marina. Any and all artists are welcome. More info on Facebook: North Willapa Artist Community. The organization meets the first Tuesday of each month.

Outreach Spaghetti Dinner

March 7 – South Beach Christian Outreach (SBCO) will offer a fundraising spaghetti dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Living Hope Church, located at 617 S. Forrest St. in uptown Westport. A $5 donation is requested to help defray the cost of your meal and to help neighbors in need on the South Beach.

The dinners are offered the first Tuesday of each month with the exception of December.

South Beach Writers Group

March 8 – South Beach Writers Group meets every second Wednesday of the month from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Anyone interested in joining to encourage or be encouraged in your writing endeavors is welcome. Library Robots for Kids &LEGO Club

Mar 10 – 3:30-4:30 p.m., children grades 1-6. Ocosta Booster Club Crab Feed

March 11 – 21st Annual at the Ocosta Rec Hall earns money for youth programs and scholarships for OHS students. Your meal includes crab, spaghetti, garlic bread and Coleslaw. Serving from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets at the door – Ages 13-Adult: $25, 6-12: $15

Jeff Evans Magic Show at library

March 11 – 1:30-2:30 p.m. Come watch magician extraordinaire Jeff Evans show all the wondrous things that can happen when you open a book.

GH Genealogical Society

March 11 – The Grays Harbor Genealogical Society meets at 10 a.m. at the Hoquiam Library downstairs meeting room.

Ocosta Booster Club

March 12 – The Ocosta Booster Club monthly meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the Ocosta High School library. All South Beach citizens interested in our schools welcome.

The booster club provides financial support for athletic and academic programs, sports banquets, individual camps, state competitions, sports equipment and scholarships for students at Ocosta Jr/Sr High.

The group meets the second Sunday of each month at 7 p.m. Sept. through June.

March 14 – The North Pacific County Neighborhood Watch will meet from 6-8 p.m. at the Shoalwater Bay Tribal meeting room in the Administration building. All community members are welcome to attend.

American Civil Liberties Union

March 15 – The Grays Harbor ACLU will hold a potluck meeting at 6 p.m. at Events on Emerson, 212 4th St., Hoquiam. All are welcome. The group meets the third Wednesday of every month.

The Evergreen State in World War I

Mar 25 – 2-3 p.m. Adults at the Westport library. In 1917, the U.S. entered The Great War to fight alongside our European allies. But Washington’s homefront experience began long before the country entered the war, and continued afterward. Join historian Lorraine McConaghy to learn about and discuss this dramatic period in our state’s history. Humanities Washington and the Washington State Historical Society in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of America’s involvement in World War I sponsor this talk.

Broomstick Pool

March 30 – Broomstick Pool matches are played at the Local Bar &Grill the last Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. Sixteen players maximum may play in each tourney. Cost is $3 per person with the pot split three ways for the top scores. You may sign up in advance or play space available on match days.

Driftwood Show &Glass Float Roundup

April 1, 2 – 55th Annual – Held at the historic Grayland Community Hall. This amateur driftwood collectors’ exhibit and competition includes everything from flotsam and jetsam to photography. Tokeland &North Cove Art Studio Tour

April 15, 16 – Nearly two-dozen artists living and working in Tokeland and North Cove will offer private studio tours and art displays at the Tokeland Hotel from 10 a.m. to p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday. A fundraiser auction and wine tasting for the benefit of the OHS Art Club Saturday evening from 6-9 p.m.
