Santa arrived at Float 6 at the Westport Marina Saturday, Dec. 1, to a crowd of waiting children there to tell him what they wanted for Christmas, part of the 2018 Westport Santa by the Sea celebration.
Santa traded in his sleigh for a Coast Guard vessel, which delivered him to the marina around 10:30 a.m. He was then escorted to the Destruction Island Lighthouse Lens Exhibit Hall on the grounds of the Westport Maritime Museum, kids in tow, where he met with kids and their families under the lighthouse lens.
The holiday craft bazaar and bake sale next door in McCausland Hall was well attended and offered dozens of handcrafted treats and gift items. Down the street at the Tackle Box event center was Shop with a Pirate, the annual free kids-only store where kids can shop, enjoy free refreshments, get their gifts wrapped and play games with volunteers from the South Beach Buccaneers.
