Willapa Valley High School has scheduled a Demonstration Fair for 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 28.
“This is a new concept that will allow students to showcase their knowledge and talents to the community,” said Principal Nancy Morris. “The format is a blend between an open house and a science fair. Each high school student will be either exhibiting a display or demonstrating or performing a skill.”
As visitors enter the fair, they will receive a time schedule of demonstrations held in various rooms of the school. Students will be on hand in the exhibition space to answer questions about their work. Also, several online stations will be set up for visitors to explore Family Access, Edmodo, Khan Academy and other online sites students use in school.
According Morris, the concept was developed this year to allow parents and community members to see what students are really learning in school and on their free time.
“Students met this proposal with enthusiasm,” said Morris. “We encouraged students to choose projects related to school work or hobbies and interests. We have so many talented students, and I am very excited about the wide variety of projects that will be shown.”
The school is located at 22 Viking Way in Raymond.
