About 100 gallons of red diesel fuel spilled from a vessel into the Westport Marina Tuesday morning but was quickly contained, according to the Department of Ecology.

The Assurance was moored at the marina when the spill occurred. Shortly after it was discovered, the Southwest Region Ecology office Tweeted, “The good news is that first responders accessed a nearby trailer full of spill equipment owned by the Port of Westport that we funded!”

By early afternoon Ecology reported the majority of the cleanup was complete and a containment boom was left in place to contain any residual oil.
