On Sunday, July 7, everyone is invited to the 8th annual Tokeland Trek. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Tokeland Hotel.
The Tokeland-North Cove Chamber and the Shoalwater Bay Tribe are committed to adding recreational opportunities and ways to enjoy Tokeland’s natural beauty. The Trek is one of those special outdoor experiences where community and friends come together in a positive way.
Trekkers will have exclusive access to Dave’s Tokeland Trail, a private trail covering 23 acres of Tokeland. This guided tour treks through a transition from the Tokeland rain forest to the seashore and dunes. This leg of the Trek is low key and educational, thus making it a fun family outing. Learn about the area’s flora and fauna from Dave Hawthorne, longtime resident and hiking enthusiast. On the second trail experience, Trekkers are invited to meander through the Willapa Bay grasslands, marvel at the wildflowers and sea beans and take in the beauty of the bay. The Shoalwater Bay Tribe graciously maintains the 12-foot-wide mowed trail from the Tokeland Hotel for about three-quarters of a mile alongside the bay.
Registration at the Tokeland Hotel Sunday is at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 7, or you may preregister at www.tokelandnorthcove.com. Tokeland Hotel sack lunches will be available for $10 — cash only.
