South Beach RFA holding open houses to discuss Prop. 1

South Beach Regional Fire Authority would like to thank the community for its overwhelming support during this last year.

Next week you will receive a ballot in the mail to vote on a South Beach Regional Fire Authority maintenance and operations levy. This levy is a continuation for funding established by the October of 2017 RFA Plan that was voted on and passed by super majority from the South Beach citizens. To continue having open conversations with our constituents, we would like to invite the public to several open house opportunities in the coming days.

The first of four fire station open houses take place at South Beach Regional Fire Station 34 at 1785 State Route 105 in Grayland during the Windriders Kite Festival this coming Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Officials are hoping that the public will take advantage of the opportunity to tour the facilities, get important fire safety information, meet firefighters, see fire engines and ambulances and learn about the district’s upcoming ballot measure.

Additionally, the South Beach Firefighter Community Support Foundation will be selling its famous tacos for your enjoyment during the kite festival.

Additional open house events are scheduled as follows:

• Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Westport fire station, 170 W. Spokane Ave. in Westport

• Saturday, July 27 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the North Cove fire station, 2829 SR 105 Grayland, and Ocosta fire station, 69 Johns River Rd. in Aberdeen

Although the public is welcome to stop by their fire stations at any time, officials note that these planned events constitute a special opportunity to learn more about the RFA’s continuation of its M&O levy, which will be on the August ballot as Proposition 1.
